Our Past
We've come a long way since we started out in 1994, supporting a project for slum children in Delhi (see Our Story), but our goal is still to reach the women and children who need it most. We try to focus on communities where our suppliers are located
Close to Monsoon's HQ in Delhi, the Advit Foundation is a community-based education project designed to increase and improve school attendance in the region. The project focuses on vocational learning, with subjects such as I.T., science, English language and tailoring.
Pahamune House is home to over 100 children from both Tamil and Muslim backgrounds, all of whom lost one or both parents in the Tsunami of December 2004. The children attend local schools and receive English and I.T tuition at Pahamune House, as well as vocational training in skills such as sewing and plumbing.

Bee-keeping project
Jeevika's bee keeping project aims to improve the quality of life for 200 women and their families in rural villages in South India through honey production. Women get to make a sustainable living and the honey tastes great too!
Project Pani
We all know that 'pani' (Hindi for 'water') is the source of life and yet many families in India still lack access to clean water. This project provides training in low cost rainwater harvesting for rural communities in East India , helping to improve the lives of over 2,000 people.
The Salaam Baalak Trust was established in 1988 to protect and care for street children in and around the railway station, crowded bus stops, business areas and slums of New Delhi.
We've supported the construction of a girl's shelter in Gurgaon, providing a home for 60 girls with regular meals, a library and a space to play.

We've provided one-off grants to High School Tala in Bhandavgarh Tiger Reserve (2004), and to a Girls Hostel at Desuri in Jodhpur (2005) - both in India.
In addition to our 'core' projects, we have made donations to disaster relief causes, including the Besland siege in 2004 and the South Asian Earthquake in 2005.
